Dwight was born in Newfoundland, Canada’s most eastern province, which has a heritage rich in the arts and maritime traditions.
He developed an early interest in art, crafts and textiles and has spent his life teaching others the value of colour and design.
Though mostly self-taught, Dwight has attended arts classes at Memorial University, and studied with several East Coast artists, where he had his own studio in St. John’s NFLD, and served on several provincial art & craft committees.
Dwight moved to Ontario, opened a design studio in downtown Ottawa and worked there for eighteen years, before moving to North Dundas. He now owns and operates Aura Art Studio, in Iroquois, where he offers specialized workshops in culinary arts, textiles, sculptures, glass and mixed medium art works.
Dwight has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, and his work has been featured on the pages of many national magazines and newspapers, including the Ottawa Citizen.
Dwight works in mixed medium, textiles, acrylic, glass, clay and metals. Color and texture are most important to him as he pursues his passions as a designer, painter, sculptor, jeweler and fiber artist.
He now enjoys teaching and creating works for interior and exterior spaces.
